On Thursday, December 19, 2024, the Faculty of Croatian Studies hosted Dr. Árpád Hornyák, Assoc. Prof. at the University of Pécs and Senior Researcher at the Institute of History of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. As part of the faculty mobility program, the Pannónia Scholarship Programme, he delivered guest lectures in the course History of Hungary, led by Assist. Prof. Ivana Jukić Vidas. The lecture was also attended by students of the course History of Russia, taught by Assist. Prof. Kristina Milković.

The lecture provided a fascinating overview of the complex and dramatic political situation in Hungary following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. It focused on the various foreign policy considerations and actions of the Hungarian political elite aimed at establishing Hungary’s international reputation during the interwar period.

The presentation was interactive and dynamic, with questions from students and faculty fostering a pleasant and stimulating atmosphere for discussion. In conclusion, Dr. Árpád Hornyák announced his return to the Faculty of Croatian Studies and the continuation of their long-standing collaboration.
