Zborci is a societal initiative from Skopje, aimed to actively support the word creation process of the Macedonian language. Started by a group of linguistic practicioners and educators and advanced by a group of linguistic enthusiasts, the idea slowly but steadily increases its reach in the Macedonian society. In the attempt to further learn about the possibilities of the word creation process, they visited Zagreb and successfully realized visits at the Institute of Lexicography “Miroslav Krleža” and the Faculty of Croatian Studies. The Croatian “Creative Word of the Year” event served as an example for an event they are planning in Skopje and the mutual exchange on the topic proved to be more than helpful for both sides.
The leading members of the Zborci Society, Viktor Buchkovski and Igor Antov, were received at the Faculty of Croatian Studies by the Head of the Department of Croatology, Associate Professor Ivana Kresnik, Full Professor Mario Grčević from the same department and the Assistant to the Rector with the authority of the Vice Dean for International Cooperation, Assistant Professor Wollfy Krašić. Professors Kresnik and Grčević presented to the guests from North Macedonia a number of initiatives and activities aimed at the protection and preservation of the Croatian literary language and how the word formation process in Croatia has developed and is still developing. Several opportunities for cooperation were proposed and agreed upon at the meeting.
